Marcia's Background

Marcia B. McClure graduated with Honors from the State University of New York Law School in 1979. Her undergraduate degree was received from Hofstra University in New York and was Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Since 1980, Marcia McClure has been practicing an unusually wide variety of law. She has spent numerous years starting and running a large defense firm for a major insurer as their managing attorney and senior trial attorney. She now handles primarily Plaintiff's work in the area of personal injury including automobile negligence, dog bite, nursing home negligence, premises liability, medical malpractice, and products liability. She also handles custody disputes, family law, and commercial litigation.

Marcia B McClure has been an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit Law School and numerous other educational facilities.

She is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association as well as a private arbitrator in personal injury, custody and divorce matters.

Marcia B. McClure has been the hostess of weekly legal radio program since 1991 and has done frequent cable and news programs, newspaper articles and other community education programs such as seminars and talks at area bookstores and libraries.

Wrongful Death due to Police Negligence- $6 million
Wrongful death action of a woman pedestrian hit by Detroit Police Officer speeding in center lane on Jefferson Ave. Officer had no sirens or emergency lights activated.

 


Trip and Fall on City of Detroit Sidewalk - $2.75 million
Plaintiff tripped on a cracked sidewalk and fell into a improperly constructed roadsign. Lumbar disc herniation, no surgery required.

 


Rear End Automobile Accident- $975,000
Accident involving 28 year old plaintiff with Harrington rod and Dwyer device in back since age nine. Aggravation of back problems.

 


Slip and Fall on Area Rug- $500,000
Elderly woman fell on small area rug improperly secured at a hair dresser. Suffered a fractured hip, and underwent successful hip replacement.

 


Wrongful Accusation of Shoplifting - $375,000
Young mother shopping at discount store was wrongfully accused of shoplifting by security staff. Police were called and a bond was posted, after one hour of trial the criminal case was dismissed. No physical damages or incarceration.

 


Woman Injured by Uncontrolled Shopping Carts - $375,000
Plaintiff hit in the back by a runaway train of shopping carts being brought into the store by warehouse store staff. Plaintiff injured her neck upon falling.
